Hey, gay geeks and gaymers! Our cosplay crush this week is Guillaume from Marseille, France. You may have seen him cosplay as Isagi Shuuhei from Bleach, Minato from Naruto, Noctis from Final Fantasy 15, Takeru from Kamigami no Asobi, and Cloud from Final Fantasy 7 at conventions all over Paris, Toulouse, Lyon, and Marseille.
So Guillaume, are all your cosplays your real hair?
I use my hair much as possible for cosplay because I hate wearing wigs.
How long does it take you to complete a cosplay from start to finish?
I’m always in a rush about cosplay. I am not very motivated until two weeks before the day.
How old were you when you started doing cosplay?
18 years old!
What got you into cosplay in the first place?
The concept, be some of my favorite characters, be like them physically and mentally for Role playing, it was just an incredible idea for me. During 2011, I went to a manga exposition for the first time, and, I fall in love. I cosplayed for the first time directly after this experience!
What’s your most memorable experience while cosplaying (the more funny, awkward, weird, the better)?
I think. In my first years, I think, it was 2012 or 2013, I cosplayed Sasuke from Naruto. He is a depressing character, never smile, and I tried to respect the Roleplay, but, there was a friend… Who just did and said a lot of things wich make me laugh all the day… I cried, it was completely the opposite of Sasuke. I was sad of my performance, but I spent a very good day… ahaha…
What is it about cosplay that you like the most? (Creating Costume/Wearing The Costume/Competing?)
My favorite part about cosplay is to create the weapons, as I said earlier, I rarely cosplay without a weapon, I love it! Like something that you can freely express yourself, open yourself to others and share your passion with another person like you.
What does cosplay mean to you?
It’s clearly my passion, and, not just cosplay, but Japan, in his totality, food, culture, history, language, I love everything around it! I was introverted before starting cosplay, but this helped me a lot in my life about this! I was more self-confident!
Besides cosplay, what other nerdy/geeky things do you do?
I’m a really big player of World of Warcraft aha ! Played Overwatch and Rocket league sometimes too
Do you compete in any cosplay contests?
I did one, one time in my beginning, but it was just for fun, few opponents, and I won.. But not recently. Much people told me to go for it, but, I’m not very good on stage. Maybe one day…
Do you feel like the cosplay world has changed over the past few years? More free and accepting?
Yeah, I think, but when I saw some programs which talk about cosplay, it makes me cry… Everytime this world is not seen as it should be, the reporters talk about something they apparently don’t know, and the message who is transferring to other people wich don’t know it is 80% wrong, and it’s sad…
Do you have a cosplay “team?”
Not really, sometime, i found some friends for a group when we want to cosplay characters from the same universe, but not everytime
What was your most expensive/hardest cosplay you did and why?
I don’t think one was hardest than an other, maybe the first because I was stressed out, how people would see me and what would they think about it.
What was your first cosplay? And do you feel like you have improved?
My first cosplay was Hisagi, yeah i think I improved a lot, seems legit when you did a lot A LOT of differents cosplay.
What would you say to a first time cosplayer?
Don’t be afraid about asking for others, or watch tutorial on the net, don’t give up and stay positive.
Where can fans get more of you (social media, websites, etc.)?
“Zalaziel cosplay” on Facebook don’t hesitate to like my page, you can see pretty much all of my cosplays. at least my favorites.
Anything you would like to say to your fans?
Keep loving me haha no seriously thank you for your support!
