Get An Inside Look Into The New Power Rangers Movie

Boom! Studios revealed it was going to debut a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic in partnership with Saban Brands for 2016, and a reboot movie of the 90s TV show is set to be released sometime in 2017.

Mary Rafferty, the Senior Vice President of U.S. Consumer Products for Saban Brands stated, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which launched as a global sensation more than two decades ago, is such a special part of the Power Rangers franchise. We are excited to share the classic story of these original Power Rangers in a brand-new way.”

But most of you want to know about the movie.

Dean Israelite, the director of Project Almanac, The Department of Nothing and Magician is already in pre-production for the film. The cast has already been finalized, and it’s pretty diverse group of upcoming stars.

“From the very beginning, diversity was a very important part of the whole process,” he said. “We switched all of the races around, but we made sure that the essence of each of those characters are who they were in the original show, and this really will be an origin story of those characters.”

There has been no word yet about whether or not the film will include the Green/White Ranger, who was initially played by Jason David Frank in the 1995 film.
