Amazon picking up Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, also known as Sanzoku no Musume Rōnya. The 26 episode show is set in the woodlands of an early-Medieval Scandinavia. It follows Ronja, a daughter of a bandit who makes her home in an enchanted forest with mystical creatures. She meets Birk, a boy from the rival tribe.
The series was co-produced by Studio Ghibli and animated by Polygon Pictures. It was based on the Swedish author, Astrid Lindgren’s books of the same name. It was directed by Hayao Miyasaki’s son Gorō Miyazaki and first premiered in 2014.
Gillian Anderson as been set to be the narrator of the film for the children’s show. This wasn’t the first Studio Ghibli film she’s voiced. Gillian Anderson also voiced Moro in English dubbed version of Princess Mononoke.
